(This post was transferred from my previous blog domain to my new one..enjoy!) So this year on (May 26th) marked my GOLDEN BIRTHDAY. I spent it in the beautiful city that's so nice they had to name it twice: New York! It was everything that I ever dreamed it to be considering it was my first time visiting. A few days before I landed, I was literally running around like
a chicken with my head cut off. Whether it was me trying to get my bob haircut touched up, a mani-pedi or doing last minute packing, it all got done! I worked the day prior and didn't get off until 11 pm and still had to drive home to my parents' in Tacoma to leave my car and to hop on a flight that left at 7 am..so you could probably imagine how tired I was when I landed.
Upon my arrival, the weather was a bit muggy coupled with this non-stop misty-like rain which my hair wanted to strangle me for! I Ubered from the JFK airport to Brooklyn where my cousins lived and who'd I be staying with for the duration of my trip! The best part of my 45 minute Uber drive: my driver played Beyonce the entire time! When I finally got to Brooklyn, my cousin's awesome husband, Tyler, coached me through ringing the buzzard to get buzzed into their apartment like all the fun New Yorkers you see on tv do lol. After I unpacked and settled in, we toured Time Square while we waited for my cousin Julia to get out of her acting class which was literally smack dead in Time Square. We also got to eat some delicious ice cream from the Sugar Factory! The next day was my birthday and Julia and I had a girl's day out! We took my first picture of being 26 at a little burger joint in Soho where I also did a bit of shopping damage! then we visited the infamous Brooklyn Bridge followed by a small lunch at a super hip coffee shop call Joe and the Juice sidenote: the moment we walked into this chic coffee and juice, they had a fire 90s and early 2000s playlist poppin and if you know me you know I'm a major fangirl for the 90s R&B! We quickly changed clothes and took the Subway to see a Broadway show entitled, "On Your Feet" : the Gloria Estefan Story. This musical, coupled with beautiful singing voices, a colorful Latin Atmosphere, wine and a live band was truly all the rave!
The next day, Brittany, one of my dearest college friends arrived with her boyfriend and we spent our entire Saturday together starting it off with brunch
followed by doing some shopping in Soho as well as having a photoshoot (who did we think we were lol?!). That evening they surprised me with dinner reservations at this totally chic, up-scale, high-end Chinese and Asian-fused restaurant called "Philippe's" which was right across from Central Park! After dinner we took a Lyft (because who needs a car in NY?! lol) to The Press Lounge which was totally mine and Brittany's element. It was a beautiful social lounge with a breathtaking skyline view of New York. We seriously couldn't help but snap it up a few good times to capture the moment..I mean can you blame us?! It had been almost 4 years since we last saw eachother!
The next day I got to take the Ferry to Staten Island to get a view of the Statue of Liberty and then had another fun photo shoot with gorgeous Julia in Central Park! After our mini shoot in Central Park, we ended our evening by jetting over to get a look at the Grand Central Station, along the way we got to see the rich and famous avenues: Madison and Park Ave! The following day I was scheduled to head back to Seattle and return to my regular everyday life! Needless to say this Los Angeles native feel deeply in love with the city of lights that never sleeps ♥️
