Hello Syracuse, NY

Hey guys!

I'm back after quite a long hiatus! As you can tell, I've finally moved to Syracuse NY to start my PhD program! Also this is my first time ever having my own apartment. So you can imagine how excited I currently am. I'm so in love with my cute and cozy apartment and can't wait to decorate more! I've been here for going on two weeks now and am currently still finding my way around, in fact, I've gotten lost several times already with no help from my GPS. Everyone here so far is actually pretty nice. My first impression was omg these NYers are going to be soooo rude, but Syracuse is completely different. They appear mean but as soon as you speak, then their whole demeanor changes.

But can we talk about the process of moving in for a sec?! So my parents flew out here with me to help me get all set up but a few days priors all of my friends wanted one last time to see me before I left, so I had several friends come over while I finished my last bit of packing and my dear friend Jillian came bearing Trophy Cupcakes the day of my departure and to help me stuff the last bit of my suitcase lol. Our flight left that evening and it was about a 6 hour plane ride overnight, so you can probably imagine how exhausted we all were by the time we actually arrived here. Now mind you prior to, I had never physically laid eyes on my apartment, I literally went off of the online pics and hoped for the best and by the time I was approved for the apartment, I was then notified that the ones they showed

online were actually all the two bedrooms that were renovated and that the one bedrooms were only "updated" meaning they had a fresh coat of paint and new floors. So we were literally on pins and needles hoping for the best. We arrived and the my apartment manager Lynn, sweetest lady in the world, took us up to my floor and as soon as she opened the door I was in awe! and knew I would especially love it once I put my own spin on it. So we left and got cleaning supplies and i disinfected my entire apartment as well as swept and mopped the floors. As the days passed I put together my dining room set, solo, and then my dad put together my bed and my mom and I got a head start on the couch only to find out there were no screws included to put it together. So one can imagine how much of an ordeal that was! Aside from that I've been making really good strides in the kitchen and cooking up a storm considering I'm for sure gonna be budgeting! I've gone to visit the 6 story

Destiny USA mall and omg amazing! I treated myself to the Lion King and even toured my school for a bit and the Children's Hospital here. The rest of my time has been spent being in and out of Target and HomeGoods as well as running small errands here and there. So slowly but surely I'm finding my way around, I even visited Armory Square yesterday which is basically a circular strip consisting of pubs, shopping etc. I love it here so far and cant wait to make new friends and for my program to start! Until then, catch you later.

-xoxo Dom
